Carita was founded by two sisters over 60 years ago in Paris. The two sisters, Maria and Rosy Carita (born 1913 and 1914 respectively), were two ambitious visionaries who wanted to create beauty products with the concept of "global beauty". Since then, Carita has been established in over 60 countries and symbolizes French beauty care.
Carita provides products that have a comprehensive anti-ageing concept, developed using the latest technology. Caritas is really sticking to the crowd of skin care products with their global beauty concept that offers products and treatments for face, body and hair.
In 1937, the sisters Carita founded their first salon at Rue du Taur in Toulouse. 1943 however, the sisters decided to move to Paris and start as disciples at the Gervais salon. Gervais was a renowned hairdresser and the sisters Carita got a solid education at the hairdressing salon and learned to handle customers. The move to Paris was particularly successful because already 1945, the sisters opened their first own hairdresser in Paris at Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré. The Carita sisters ' hairdressing salon was a success and was well known when several celebrities from the French elite visited the auditorium.
In 1956, the Caritas global beauty concept begins to really take shape when two iconic Carita products are created and the Carita sisters found their own beauty school. It was actually this year that they formulated the concept of "global beauty", including both skin care (for face and body) and hair care. 1956 created Carita the iconic products Fludie de Beauté 14, a herbal ultra-nourishing oil that can be used on the whole body as well as Rénovateur, a blend of sunflower seeds and essential oils that makes the skin soft and moisturized.
The sisters Carita began to focus also on skin care and collaboration with Madame Dulac ("The third sister"). Madame Dulac focused on developing skin care products for both face and body while Mary and Rosy focused on hair care. In 1957, the sisters began reviving the courage of wigs, which gave Carita international fame. This year, even Christophe Carita (the Caritas nephew Sisters) began to engage in the brand Carita.
1960 continued Caritas's global beauty concept to flourish and the formula of Caritas Fludies de Beauté products was changed. The oily creams were replaced with water-based formulor to thus make the skin radiant without it would feel greasy. Caritas Skin Care Line Progressif was developed in 1960 by a Belgian Gerontolog (expert on age research) and this anti-wrinkle cream was considered the key to youth.
In 1967, the Sisters Carita "Carita Monsieur", a Salon for men, opened. This was a bold move from the Caritas side sisters but even this salon was a success.
The sisters Carita founded their own produktionsfacilitet in Asnières to further expand their lines with skin care products. In 1976, a new skincare line, Progressif Masque Biologique, was developed, and this skincare line was considered to be an important discovery of the fight against skin aging prematurely.
In 1978, Maria Carita unfortunately went away. Three years later, Rosy Carita and Madame Dulac (the third sister) also went away. But the Caritas legacy lives on through the sisters ' nephew Christophe Carita who was taught by the sisters. He had been involved in Carita for 16 years and took over Carita. Through Carita he took his hairdressing skills to a new level and was well known among many fashion designers etc. He was a breath of fresh air for Carita and a new generation of women could enjoy Caritas's global beauty concept.
In 1986, Carita was acquired by Shiseido, a well-known Japanese cosmetics companies, which is also the oldest kosmetikaföretaget in the world.
Christophe passed away in 1991 but even today (almost 70 years later), Carita and the global beauty concept live on. In 1999, the skin care line Progressif further expanded. In 2006, another best-selling product, Crème Parfaite, is launched.
In 2012 the first perfume of Caritas was launched, Carita Eau de Parfum. In 2013, Carita launched a machine (Cinetic) in its professional treatments.
In 2014, Carita (now refined with the latest Japanese technology thanks to Shiseido) was acquired by L'Oréal.
Caritasystrarna managed to create a unique legacy that is still intact today. Carita is a brand of international renown that stands for glamour and luxury.
